Thanks, Natalie <3
Mike and I fell in love with this apartment and spent countless hours meeting with the landlord, preparing our application, ensuring that they had our references, which were exceptional, and we received very promising feedback from her, basically telling us that we got the apartment. That is until Vilipend was mentioned in our final meeting with her *dun dun dun*… I was heartbroken when I read her decision.
Two of the best humans I know, Mike & Lara Crossley ( @crossleymike & @that_attitude ) found a new apartment they loved and had a verbal agreement with the landlord. Then, the landlord researched the band that Mike plays bass in (the same band my partner, Christopher Gramlich [ @NrthrnBearShark] sing in). Today, they received this email from their (former) prospective landlord:
“Hello Mike & Lara,
Sorry for the delay.
I will be straight up with you both.
We were quite ready to make a decision in your favour the other night.
However, upon investigation of the band Vilipend, it has brought forward some concerns for us.
We are uncomfortable with the energy that this music manifests.
We really enjoyed meeting with you both and you have shown, both professionalism and patience in this process.
We thank you for that. However, we feel it is not the best fit for our house and our other tenants.
We wish you both the best of luck in your pursuits.
Sincerely,_____________”
Mike & Lara are both employed full time, and engage in such disreputable activities as nursing a critically ill cat that requires round the clock care for months on end, and driving Chris and I to Costco.
Check out the band TOO DANGEROUS TO RENT TO here. Vilipend’s new album, Inamorata, will be released by A389 and No List on August 16th, 2012.
Music genre-based discrimination.
